The former glamour of an ancient alley in Guilin has returned after a recent renovation, which was completed in April 2016. In its heyday, the alley was a prosperous commercial hub and gathering place for celebrities in the capital city of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Guilin's municipal government reportedly allocated 55 million RMB ($8 million) to the renovation project in 2013.
