The gardens at Versailles have inspired many gardens around the world, including many that are featured here.

It was commissioned in 1661 by Louis XIV to rival the designs of the palace itself and took some forty years to complete.

The highlights of the garden includes the Orangerie, the fountains and the Grand Canal. From April to October, there's also a musical fountain show.

Day tickets to the palace, which includes the gardens and grounds as well as tours, are €18 (£13.88).
