86-year-old veteran Yan Mingyou has taught music for 20 years without salary at Fuxing primary school in Dingyuan, Gansu province. He never complains although he has to stand six hours a day. Without salary, he has been insisting on teaching in spite of difficulties.

He hopes his students could get happiness from music and that is why he chooses to be a music teacher in a rural school. As a veteran of the New Fourth Army, he wants to carry forward the revolutionary spirit.
