China opposes unilateral sanctions with no authorization from UN Security Council: spokesperson
(Xinhua) 09:57, December 04, 2025
BEIJING, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- China is opposed to unilateral sanctions that violate international law and have not been authorized by the UN Security Council, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said Wednesday.
Lin made the remarks at a daily news briefing when asked to comment on a recent proposal by the European Commission to use frozen Russian assets to fund Ukraine.
All parties should foster a positive atmosphere and create favorable conditions for promoting peace talks and facilitating the political settlement of the Ukraine crisis, rather than the opposite, Lin said.
