
BEIJING, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- China has 50 million registered volunteers and more than 306,000 volunteer service organizations, the Ministry of Civil Affairs (MCA) announced Friday.
Apart from volunteer services, the number of registered charitable organizations stood at 2,109 by the end of August 2017, with 513 allowed to raise public donations, the MCA said.
Total public donations reached 80 billion yuan (about 12.2 billion U.S. dollars) in 2016.
According to the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020), the number of registered volunteers should account for 13 percent of the total population by 2020.
