ISIL claimed on Sunday it has shot down a helicopter in Deir ez-Zor District in northeastern Syria, CCTV’s Xu Dezhi reported.

ISIL released a video purportedly showing a Syrian army MI-8 helicopter being brought down as it was descending near a hospital in the western sector of the city of Deir ez-Zor, saying an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) was used to down the helicopter.

The Syrian government is yet to comment on the video yet.

Most of the areas in Deir ez-Zor have been under the control of ISIL since 2014, however pro-government forces have gained areas in the western and southern parts.
