KATOWICE, Poland, July 15 -- A team of doctors fromUpper Silesian Medical Centre in the polish city of Katowicesucceeded in conducting a pioneer cardiac surgery treatment onTuesday.

The conducted surgery was targeted at patients with heartfailure and mitral valve defect and consisted of putting a specialimplant without cutting the myocardium.

The implant is made of a medical silicone and is put directly ona beating heart around it's base.

It is a huge chance for patients with secondary mitralregurgitation, it is a good alternative to the open heart surgeryas it reduces the time of the whole procedure and convalescence.
